14 December 2025 – The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Ceremony between UKM Specialist Centre (UKMSC) and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was successfully held at the Auditorium of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), UKM. The ceremony was witnessed by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Bariah Mohd Ali, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Engagement) of UKM, Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Hj. Mahadi, Acting President of FAM, and Associate Professor Dato’ Dr. Badrul Akmal Hisham Md Yusoff, Medical Director of UKMSC.
Through this MoU, UKMSC and FAM are committed to strengthening the quality of healthcare for national football players, covering injury risk assessment, emergency protocols, as well as the management of cardiovascular, neurological, and musculoskeletal injuries.
According to Associate Professor Dato’ Dr. Badrul Akmal Hisham Md Yusoff, UKMSC is prepared to lead in delivering treatment driven by the latest technology and innovation, ensuring that national players receive international-standard care encompassing prevention, rehabilitation, and long-term performance development.
Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Hj. Mahadi described this collaboration as a significant step towards enhancing the health and safety standards of athletes, while acknowledging UKMSC’s expertise and comprehensive facilities in supporting the nation’s sports medicine ecosystem.
This MoU serves as a catalyst for long-term UKM–FAM collaboration, beginning with the implementation of the Pitch Side Care in Football (PSCiF) Level 1 Certification, followed by the organisation of the Football Medicine Symposium and PSCiF Level 1 programme to develop trained personnel and strengthen on-field medical preparedness. The collaboration also paves the way towards establishing national standards for athlete safety and holds potential for expansion into other sports in the future, with UKMSC poised to serve as a national referral centre for sports medicine.
