Assoc Prof Dato’ Dr. Badrul Akmal Hisham, an esteemed orthopedic surgeon and UKM alumnus, has been a key figure in advancing orthopedic surgery and sports trauma in Malaysia. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and later earned a Doctor of Orthopedic Surgery from UKM.
He has held various leadership roles, including Medical Lecturer and Specialist in the Arthroscopy & Sports Trauma Unit at UKM. His expertise spans shoulder and knee surgery, cartilage bio-resurfacing, and regenerative medicine using mesenchymal stem cells. His contributions to research have led to the establishment of the UKM Articular Cartilage Research Group (UACRG), focusing on innovative orthopedic implants and stem cell treatments.
As the Medical Director of UKMSC, he ensures the highest standards of medical excellence, spearheads digital advancements in healthcare, and promotes professional development. His leadership has also extended internationally through knowledge-sharing programs in Maldives, India, Indonesia, and Timor Leste.
Dato’ Dr. Badrul Akmal Hisham serves as the Medical Director of UKM Specialist Centre and is a highly respected orthopedic surgeon. He leads the clinical and medical direction of UKMSC, ensuring that the healthcare services provided adhere to the highest standards of medical excellence. With his expertise in orthopedic surgery and vast experience in the medical field, Dato’ Dr. Badrul is dedicated to strengthening UKMSC as a trusted and outstanding medical institution.


Dr. Haji Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali, a UKM alumnus with a Master’s in Community Health Science, has extensive experience in healthcare management and governance. He has held various key roles in the Ministry of Health Malaysia, including as a Senior Principal Assistant Director and a member of the Greater Klang Valley Task Force during the COVID-19 emergency.
With over a decade of experience in public healthcare, he has been actively involved in policy planning, hospital administration, and healthcare procurement. His strategic approach to optimizing hospital operations has significantly improved patient care, medical service delivery, and overall efficiency at UKMSC.
As Chief Operating Officer of UKMSC, he leads initiatives to enhance patient-centered care, implement digital healthcare solutions, and promote continuous professional development among healthcare professionals. He is a strong advocate for integrating modern technology in hospital management, ensuring that UKMSC remains at the forefront of innovation in medical services.
Under his leadership, UKMSC continues to expand its role as a premier healthcare institution, reinforcing commitment to medical excellence and community-driven healthcare services.
